The tractor has arrived at the Agriculture School of Valle de Sula Choloma in Honduras! This is just a few weeks after the Midwest Mission team visited the school just outside of San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Although the team wasn’t present to see the tractor in-person, they were able to talk with the instructors at the school, and hear how impactful the tractor will be. Watch this video to hear their excitement:
First, one of the instructors, Octavio, traveled to try out the tractor before bringing it to the school. He absolutely loved it, and all the attachments!
Then, they brought it to the school. But they didn’t just bring it in, they drove it in, celebration-style, with balloons and cheers of joy.
You can tell just how much this means to the students and staff.
They have been waiting for a tractor of their own for 25 years. Then, after the floods in 2020 destroyed all they had built for 20 years, they needed one more than ever.
This tractor will allow them to plant more, harvest more, build more, do more. And, everything they sell brings money back into the school so they can continue doing more. This tractor will help them expedite the dreams they have for the school. It allows the students to focus on their learning and training, rather than spending so much time doing manual labor.
Thank you to everyone who prayed for or gave towards the tractor.
One tractor, life-long impact.
Cedar Falls UMC Hosts March Mission Madness
On March 29th, Cedar Falls UMC in Cedar Falls, Iowa hosted Mission Madness — a day for churches all around their local area to come together to do good in the world!
A total of 130 people attended the Mission Madness event. Attendees represented 13 churches and spanned age groups from youth to retirees.
In the 3 hours of work, missioners filled 114 Home Care Kits, completed one entire Sleeping Mat (and four others nearly done), put together 15 Feminine Hygiene Kits, handed out 15 Feminine Hygiene Starter Kits so more people can sew them at home, traced and cut a “B-zillion” feminine hygiene pads, and assembled 120 Ray of Life solar kits (the biggest single build to date).
In addition, the group collected 96 school bags, 35 blankets, 15 diapers, 30 sweaters, 9 mats, 27 Personal Dignity Kits, and 2 sewing machines to be donated to Midwest Mission by people and churches attending the event.
A soup and sandwich lunch was served by a special troop of volunteers while Danille Curtis, Midwest Mission’s Public Relations Specialist, shared about Midwest Mission Iowa, and Dave Nonnenmacher talked and showed pictures of his work in Ukraine.
Finally, all the volunteers gathered to pray over the kits and donations and those that would receive them. “God blessed us with an opportunity to be amazing as we bless others,” Rus DeBonis, one of the leader of this mission initiative and long-time Midwest Mission volunteer said. “In the process we were blessed too. “
